Last year’s co-op mode in Madden sucked. EA Sports knows it. I know it. You probably know it. Thankfully the developers down at Tiburon in Orlando, Florida took a step back and readdressed the methodology the company brings to cooperative football. I recently got my hands on an early version of Madden NFL 11′s Online Team Play and will say that it’s already looking like a massive step forward for co-op pigskin.

EA Sports has unveiled the team ratings for Madden 11 via Gamespot. The top rated team in the game will be no surprise with the reigning Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints pulling in a 92 rating. The Colts, Ravens, Jets, and Vikings round out the top five while the Rams sit in the basement with a 66 rating. The biggest shifts from the final update for Madden 10 are seen with a six point increase for the Washington Redskins and an eight point drop for the Arizona Cardinals. Given that it now appears the NFL regular season and postseason will have different rules for overtime the question was how they would implemented in the different modes for Madden 11. In franchise mode the standard OT rules of year’s past will apply to regular season games while the new rules will apply in the postseason. However with Play Now games and online for ranked games they could have chosen to go with either method of OT.

EA Sports has released information on another new feature, online scouting in Madden 11. ESPN posted a full article yesterday. This could be a great addition if its made to online franchise and at this time it is not according to this article. Just another fool’s errand by EA it seems.

“Online scouting tracks all of your play-calling and what you like to do in different situations,” explains producer Donny Moore. “We’re tracking every online game that you play: online ranked, unranked, and ‘Madden Ultimate Team’ head-to-head.”
